Even in the Dark, You Are Guided
One of my very first hypnosis sessions happened in the most unexpected place: a sauna.
I struck up a conversation with a man who was curious about my work.
At first, he insisted hypnosis could never help him, and yet, after a few minutes of talking, he nodded firmly and said, “Okay, I’m ready. Let’s do it now before I change my mind.”
I was up for the challenge, and so we agreed on a short, fifteen minute session.
When he opened his eyes, his whole body looked different, soft, relaxed, and filled with quiet wonder.
Though sharing what you experience isn’t necessary, he asked if he could tell me what he saw. “I was walking a path from my childhood toward a garden,” he said. “There were fruits and flowers everywhere. I really felt like I was there. The only thing that surprised me was the sky. It was completely black.”
I asked how he felt about the black sky. After a moment, he exhaled with complete contentment and replied, “Oh, it was wonderful. I knew the black sky was the unknown, and I could create anything I wanted there.”
That moment changed something in me.
Until then, I’d always associated darkness with danger. It’s the shadow, the unseen, the uncertain, and sometimes the unknowable.
Yet through his experience, I began to understand darkness differently.
What if the darkness isn’t something to fear at all? What if it’s simply the absence of our attention, and the space waiting to be illuminated by curiosity?
In hypnosis, I often guide clients into specific places: a field, a seascape, and sometimes an ancient corridor. I invite you to notice details, like the texture of the floor, the quality of the light, or the colors on the walls. Each detail is your mind revealing more of itself.
And what if you were invited to sit in complete darkness? Would you feel at ease there? For many, the answer is no.
Or at least, not yet. What if you could rest in that vast unknown and feel excitement instead of fear?
Imagine realizing that the unknown isn’t a threat; it’s a canvas. It’s a whisper from your future saying, come create here.
That’s what the first hypnotic audio is our new series, Becoming the Calm, is about, learning to stay steady in uncertainty, to find peace in possibility, and to trust that even in the dark, you are guided.
Because the calm you’ve been seeking isn’t found in controlling the light. It’s in remembering that the dark was never empty. It was always you, waiting to see what could be created next.
Becoming the Calm begins this week inside The Lucid Hour.
If you’re not yet a member of the Lucid Hour, I invite you to join us using the link below. If you’re inspired to go deeper, I also offer custom hypnotic audios.
I don’t normally run sales, but this Black Friday, I will offer something special if you’ve been thinking about purchasing any audio series from the store.
There will also be a special announcement because all of this is leading up to the moment that you’re ready to use your voice, trust your ideas, and share your vision with the world, as we move from safety to expression, as you can finally feel the confidence to create from your truth.
